Precautions For Orthodontic Treatment
Feb 07, 2022
Don't think that once you put on the bracket, you can do it once and for all. During orthodontic treatment, you should pay attention to diet and oral maintenance. Improper diet and oral maintenance habits may affect the time required for treatment and the final effect at the end of treatment.
Because the supporting slot of orthodontic bracket is pasted on the surface of teeth through special adhesive, and then the arch wire is fixed on it to exert a certain force, so as to achieve the purpose of correcting teeth. Therefore, the bracket itself should be easy to paste and remove. At the same time, the arch wire also needs to have the property of generating appropriate force and bearing certain chewing force. Since it is a device to be removed in the future, the appliance can not be close to the teeth so that we can eat recklessly, and the thinner arch wire can not bear too much bite force. Therefore, eat less during correction:
(1) Excellent food, such as ice, nuts, hard biscuits, sugar cane, hard candy, crabs, lobster shells, should also give up the bad habits of biting pens and nails.
(2) Foods that are too sticky, such as milk sugar, maltose and some biscuits.
(3) Too big food, such as apples and pears, should be cut into small pieces before eating.
Of course, in order to avoid dental caries, we should try to reduce the intake of sweets and drink less carbonated drinks during the correction period. After each meal, the mouth should be thoroughly cleaned with correct brushing methods, supplemented by oral cleaning products such as dental floss and gap brush, so as to avoid enamel demineralization, dental caries, gingivitis or other complications.
