Sterilization Procedure
Use a dry heat sterilizer
- Before sterilization, scrub the instruments in an ultrasonic cleaner with an all-purpose cleaner with a rust inhibitor or distilled water without drying.
- Place the instruments in the sterilizer and set the timer for the time suggested by the manufacturer
Use a chemical sterilizer.
- Before sterilization, dry the hinged parts by washing with a solution of one part Micro-10 to ten parts distilled water in an ultrasonic cleaner.
- Separate the instruments into chemical sterilization bags and place in the sterilizer, timing according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
Use an autoclave
- Clean with Surgical Milk in an ultrasonic cleaner before sterilization cleaning agent mixed with distilled water.
- Place instruments individually in sterilization bags, on trays and in sterilizer, timing according to manufacturer's recommendations.
Maintenance Instructions
To prevent rusting of the pliers, never use tap water and soap to scrub the instruments
- Do not soak orthodontic forceps in low temperature sterile solution (glutaraldehyde) to avoid dull or corroded jaws damage.
- Do not leave instruments in the ultrasonic cleaner for an extended period of time, this will cause the edge to become dull.
- It is recommended to use metal polish to remove stains.
- Lubricate the hinges of the instruments immediately after sterilization to prevent rust and jerky.
- Never use filament cutting pliers to cut thick or hard filaments.
- Never use Nitinol wire pliers to bend stainless steel wire.
- Before using orthodontic forceps, please pay attention to the use range of the arch wire.
